[0:00] them smashing that for sure and I'm gonna need to keep that too that's gonna stay around that's not gonna be a one night stand yep I need to get after that a couple times yeah okay we're moving at 160 miles an hour and closing on you at such a high rate but you can only get to the finish line by this much you could do the steering drive in this thing right here you can hit it with the Tyrese on this for real oh the Ram truck big dog Hennessy a thousand horsepower shout out to Hennessy dude all right everybody welcome back to the heart and hustle podcast oh Tristan Craig with me and a little bit about my background so I grew up in Detroit and cars were a huge part of my lifestyle growing up seeing muscle cars being in Motown in general huge car culture so when I moved here to Las
[0:47] Vegas I felt a little bit disconnected from the car scene in general but then I met Tristan and realized that this kid is a real speed demon from the fact of loves cars also a professional drag racer I've got on here you are a young or your super Cup champion as well we've got um what else do I have on this list I've got super pro super I'm sorry so super pro Champion you're also um in this list I had something else you've got a top 10 what is this um a drag a drag champ top 10 list as well that you've made as well I'm super excited for my boy to be here Tristan thanks for coming on the show man thanks for having me man it's this is exciting dude I love what you're what you're doing with your uh your platform and uh it's an honor to be here yeah well I
[1:34] appreciate it you know I want to bring you on selfishly because I'm a big car guy you know what I mean but I don't really even understand the elements of what being a real car guy is because I don't build race cars like you do so why don't you give everybody an introduction to yourself some of your accomplishments as well so we can uh dive into today's conversation Yeah man so the way I like to explain it to everyone is like you know when they ask me how did you get into racing it's like uh like I literally did not have a choice my dad raised his dad raced so like inevitably it was just something that I fell in love with like my earliest memories were like being three years old like you know playing with my wrestling man upstairs in my room and then all of a sudden like the floor is rumbling because my dad's in the garage firing up his car and you know working on tune and stuff like that Building engines
[2:21] so uh you know obviously you know once the house stops shaking I would run down the stairs and join them in the garage and see what was going on and uh it's pretty funny because you know at the time when I was younger like I was kind of afraid of like muscle cars and all the noise and stuff like that so it took me a while to get used to it but uh you know as I got more comfortable with it and uh I understood that you know the chances of me getting hurt from upstairs while he's working on his car was slim you know I learned to love it so uh yeah I started racing when I was uh seven years old they have what what are called Junior Dragsters with her which is just a smaller scale dragster which I drive now but kids can drive them okay so when I started you could start racing at eight years old and you can race from eight years old to I want to say 18 years old there was a there was a couple older kids in there so I did the junior
[3:08] drag Racing League um from eight years old and I got out of it when I was about 14 when I started going to high school because then I started to care about girls and basketball and I just you know I had to I had to balance everything out at the time but man from like 8 to 14 like when I was doing the whole junior dragster thing like that was my passion like you know if I wasn't at school or you know down the street at my homie's house playing basketball or with my friends riding quads or dirt bikes like weird the racetrack and my dad raced every weekend and uh that's just what we did you know like that since I was young like that was the family thing so uh yeah always been passionate about it you know I had a pretty successful run in the junior dragster ranks and then that just propelled me into you
[3:54] know when I got older and I got my driver's license and I was old enough to race you know actual cars and stuff like that like it just took off man I just haven't looked back since man like I'm in love with it that's all I think about so it keeps me busy it keeps me grounded and I'm super fortunate that I've been able to sustain it for this long because uh you know for some of my peers and friends who you know came up the same ranks um you know for some people it fizzled out you know it's definitely one of the most expensive things that you can do in terms of in terms of it being a hobby or you know however you want to look at it but uh yeah I'm fortunate and I still care about it like I did when I was seven years old probably more it's it's it's sick to be honest with you but you know it is what it is you got the oil running through your blood man yeah literally literally yeah so so let's take it back a little bit so let's talk about your dad so you were exposed to
[4:42] your racing culture I would say very early let's talk about your pops and how did he get into the space yeah so my dad was born in Cleveland they lived there um he was a military brat so uh he bounced around a lot but from what I understand he was he was born in Cleveland you know with his brothers and sisters and his dad was just like my trajectory his dad was always working on cars Building engines you know uh they didn't come from a lot of money so you know in order to go racing they had to do you know the most of their operation was done in-house so they're building their own engines assembling their cars doing everything that they can in-house so just so they could afford to go racing so he picked up a lot of you know his knowledge and everything from his pops and then shortly after um
[5:29] his dad was no longer in the picture and he moved out to LA with his mom and his siblings and as you know Southern California is huge Automotive oh yeah Vibes out there you know what I'm saying so and then he he moved out there like during the height of it you know what I'm saying so like so what year is this because this was uh thinking like early Fast and Furious days before that he he was born in 68 and I think he was maybe 15 or 16 when they're in LA so early 80s that that type of scene and uh yeah just when he explained to me you know drag racing was like it was becoming more prominent back then because back then I think guys were you know just taking out their their souped-up cars and finding like old Air strips and stuff like that and just like letting them hang you know who has the fastest cars in their in their racing
[6:15] you know he was really into the street racing scene yes so which thankfully I didn't really have to go that route because there was more organized racing by the time you know that it came to me but yeah he uh you know he had a couple cars that he was building he was also in the military so uh he was building his cars and racing and that's how he developed more of the love for it you know that he was exposed to when he was a kid but now at this point he's doing it on his own because his dad's not in the picture so he's racing out there shortly after he gets stationed at uh at Nellis out here in Las Vegas he meets my mom and uh he has this 72 Nova which is like his pride and joy Beast yeah and that was his that was his gig you know he uh he had a an engine that he put in it that he had built himself and uh I guess when he
[7:03] came to Vegas he didn't really know too many people so obviously naturally he moves out here and he's like oh where's everybody racing at you know this is this is the community that he gravitates to so he finds out you know where the street races are he goes out there makes friends he's a nice guy um has a pretty quick car not the quickest car but enough to get people's attention and that's kind of how he laid a stamp out here so you know one thing led to another he has a kid the racetracks built he's racing every weekend I'm there with him two years old three years old in a pamper just like standing at the gate waiting for my dad watching him race yeah and uh man uh yeah and it just trickled down to me that's crazy that's kind of how it worked out I mean I love that story because like I feel like when you're not exposed to cars and the overall experience of cars when you're younger
[7:50] you really don't understand you know what I mean like this 100 cars launching from the lines yeah but also like the community that comes along with that I think is so dope 100 that's the biggest part of it is the community and the people that you're around so when you were a little bit younger what was how did you start navigating towards like your car scene did you have friends in high school and people who you kicked it with who were into it as much as you yeah they were dabbling like the street scene at all it was minimal no I didn't dabble much until the street scene just because I know I would have got killed by my parents and it just wasn't necessary um but I had very few friends the the funny thing about me is like like you said you know coming from Detroit you're like not too many of my friends are really into this and it was always like that for me yeah it was almost like back then it was like not cool to do that you
[8:39] know what I'm saying when I'm racing Junior Dragsters and I show a couple of my friends pictures and trophies they're like oh you race go-karts that's I guess oh I guess that's cool you know what I'm saying can we go swimming now yeah so I'm just like [ __ ] I guess bro so that's why it was like basketball with my friends and then on the weekends racing with my Dad yeah so the friends that I had at the racetrack like we were all in on that so it was almost like you know I had everything you know there was I had a group for this and a group for that so uh but I had a couple friends that were into cars and then once they found out that I raised they're like oh hey man like you know can we come work on my car and I was just like yeah sure bro so like even with you when we met you actually cared about cars and like you were into it and I was just like oh like he has a you know like you had a factory car I think you had a Jeep at the time yeah so it
[9:26] was cool linking up with you and then like we automatically clicked on that so I'm like oh okay he gets it you know let's go to the racetrack and I remember you know we hung out for one of the first coolest things we did was just met up at the racetrack you know made some laps and I was like okay like that was cool but uh yeah I never dabbled into the street racing thing thankfully like all I knew was organized racing in the leagues that I was in so that's what all I was focused on and uh street racing you know in my dad's time period it was just way more common and like less taboo yeah and when I got older you know when The Fast and Furious stuff was going on it was like if you get caught street racing your car's getting taken it's getting smashed you're going to jail you're losing your license and that's just way too much risk for me because you know I get to do these things you know at the racetrack and that's I'm cool with that like I'm not you know at the racetrack let's go fast
[10:13] on the street let's be responsible so that I can go racing on the weekends you hear that guys on the racetrack go fast on the streets be cool yeah 100 it's not worth it because you know I've seen the ugly side of that you know I've lost people that are close to me from you know not making the right decisions with that so you know it comes with the territory but um yeah I kind of just held on to my friends that I made at the racetrack which become which they became my brothers and stuff like that and kind of just found a way to integrate everything and then now you know now that it's I guess cool you know what I'm saying people are more accepting of it and stuff like that you know it's cool to like bring my friends who are not necessarily as familiar with racing to the racetrack yeah and show them my world so um you know there's not too many people that can relate to it but you know I got my people you know in my corner that you know we we all care about it and you know I enjoy it with
[11:02] with each other yeah I mean that sense of community is huge so growing up in Detroit right I came from the opposite side of the spectrum that you came from so when I was younger there was a kid named Mark checkabelli so Mark if you ever listen to this episode now you man so when we were younger living um outside Detroit people were really into making their cars go as fast as possible and you have to it's Detroit exactly and street racing was a big thing there and so we would go down to and everybody's listening sorry Mom and Dad but we would go down to Detroit at like 12 o'clock one o'clock in the morning to this old road called French Road and there would be hundreds of people out there who were racing like real cars so we're talking about people racing for hundreds thousands of dollars and being around those people and seeing how seriously they took their cars was really it like in through Enthusiast like enthralling
[11:50] for me is the word that I'm looking for yeah it was just like such a cool experience to get around people who like knew what to do from like an intake perspective and if I had long tube headers soon I'll be doing this and if I strap a turbo onto this thing right it's gonna go crazy so Me growing up a lot of my car culture was a part of just like going up and meeting at like a parking lot at like 10 o'clock at night and just kicking it with everybody talking about cars absolutely bro just hanging out absolutely weirdos 100 um but then I started to understand that there were people who were making mistakes right getting caught you weren't going to get your car crushed and stuff like that as intense as it is on the west coast and get your license taken away right but there were definitely people who were out there making bad decisions running from cops and stuff like that right and to me that always seems super dangerous because I didn't have the structure of a
[12:37] professional racing scene right we didn't have tracks that were near us or if they were they were so run down that nobody went to them so everybody handled stuff on the freeways and on the streets and so that was a little bit of a different world you know what I mean yeah 100 dude it's a different type of energy for sure like the few street races and stuff that I have been to that's exactly the vibe that you get like they're not there to mess around around dude like we're here to race and we're you know there's a lot at stake here yeah and we put every single day of the week into this moment right here and like the preparation that goes into racing in general is uh something that I think is underrated like people put everything that they can into these cars and granted yeah it is just a car but to somebody else that's their whole world yeah and when it's time to go racing you know they have something to prove so
[13:26] um yeah we take it seriously to say the life to say the least let's take it back a little bit so I want to talk about when you're younger like do you have a core memory of you racing of like the first time you were in your dragster yes you were like I could tell you like it was yesterday so my dad bought me my junior dragster I can't even take it further back so I'm at the racetrack with my dad every weekend and uh the junior dragster uh League started when I was young um I just remember you know there was years where I was at the track and then all of a sudden I'm like are these kids racing these cars yeah so we're walking through the pits and everything that and I'm like tugging on my dad's shirt like yo like kids drive these and then he's like you know wishing that I didn't see it he's trying to keep it from me but he's like
[14:13] yeah you want to go check them out and I'm like yeah so we're watching the kids run Junior Dragsters and stuff like that and I don't even think I really needed to say anything to my dad he could just tell about my energy and how my eyes lit up yeah and that's all I cared I was like yo like this is it like this has to be me so uh you know fast forward a year or two um the deal that we have with my dad obviously I'm begging for a junior dragster at this point so his his deal which it always was throughout my childhood you bring home straight A's we'll get you a junior dragster so I'm like bet say yes I'm locked in at school now bro you know I'm no longer the class clown yeah you know what I'm saying we're locked in on that come home lay the report card down straight A's two weeks later go in the garage there's a junior dragster wow so yeah what was that moment like oh man it was probably
[15:01] to this day still the best day of my life bro like I literally go in the garage see the car in there and I sat in that car the whole night oh wow Mom has to come out there like it's time to eat come inside that the car will be out there after dinner yeah type of thing and I'm just like okay can I eat it out here no come in the house so yeah bro um that was the best like I'm what I've been watching my dad Ray since I'm two years old like all these guys at the racetracks are my hero my dad is my hero you know what I'm saying he's Michael Jordan to me in terms of racing and then now it's my turn this is my opportunity to do you know what I love to be around so uh I couldn't remember the first time we took my car out we took it to one of my best friend his name is PJ um they were hosting a a junior dragster racing school okay so it was kind of intended for kids that weren't really
[15:49] familiar with the sport so we show up to the track and uh we brought my car with us um which was kind of out of the ordinary for the school so it was kind of one of those things you show up to the school they show you how everything works they have cars that they want you to drive so you can get familiar but I already had a car yeah I just hadn't raced it yet and I understood how everything worked because I've been going to the racetrack with my dad since I'm two or three years old so be going to What's called the tower at the racetrack it's kind of just like the facility where everything is uh coordinated you know all the people that work for the staff they're in the tower so we go in the tower and they have what's called a practice tree which is the lights that you see when we're racing and you know the kids are on there you know PJ's in there with his little brother Jacob which is also one of my really good friends and they're kind of showing the kids how everything
[16:36] works they're practicing on the practice tree and obviously the kids are not used to it so they all suck at it so it's my turn I hop on the practice tree with PJ and we're going against each other and I'm whooping his ass yeah and he's like kind of looking at me like who the [ __ ] is it like how does this kid like he's kind of accelerated in this so he's like all right you know and we're it's getting heated yeah you know what I'm saying we're doing all these practice Laps on there I would win one he would win one and at this time PJ's been Racing for years and he's like that dude wow in our region as far as junior dragster racing he's really a compass racer a super talented racer and I'm just this kid who showed up randomly at their school you know that they're supposed to teach how to with his own put his own with his own car right like they think they know what the hell they're doing let me show this kid so anyway I'm doing that in like long story short PJ's like okay like you get it like obviously this isn't your first
[17:24] time you know what I'm saying you understand what's going on and we instantly clicked so fast forward you know a day or two at the same race in school um I got to the point where you know we're on the track now and we're doing the on track stuff and we hop in my car and my dad's like all right buddy like I'm in the car he's like I'm about to fire it up you ready to go I'm like yeah you know fire in the hole he starts it up and that car vibrates so badly dude I instantly shut it off he's like what's wrong he looks in the car what's wrong so is everything okay I'm like if I race that much and he's like oh man yeah he's like yeah you'll be fine I'm gonna start it back up he starts to back up and I'm like okay this is real bro like I got the helmet on I got my gear on I'm strapped in and I'm just like okay like and at some point you know he's like all right have fun and they roll me up and it's just me in the racetrack nobody in the other
[18:11] lane nobody next to me I can't talk to my dad he's behind me I got the helmet on and it's just me and I'm just like looking down the racetrack and it seems like it's 40 miles long you know what I'm saying and the Finish Line's only 600 feet away yeah light turns green and I'm just like all right nail it and then just make my first pass on the racetrack then like man there was no better feeling in the world I'm like we have to do this again you know what I'm saying and then ever since then like every single lap down the racetrack I'm just as excited as I was that first time after my initial scare that you know I just I've been stuck with it wrong man it's just like anchored in your DNA yeah pretty much yeah yeah and that's crazy it's uh I just think about like some of those original experiences when you kind of like find our first love you know what I mean that's literally not somebody else but it's just like a passion literally being able to just like click into that
[18:58] moment when you are on the track today even like back in the day when everything fires up you pull up to the line is it just dead quiet in your head yeah you just focused on just that it's yeah it's like I black out dude honestly yeah and it's funny because you know a lot of times people ask me do you get nervous like what are you thinking before a run you know everything's going on there's so many variables that you can't even control and there's so many ways you can win or lose a race and uh it comes with a lot of nerves so but yeah man once once the engine once I fire up the engine like there's no more thinking I don't feel anything I don't think everything's Instinct and it's like probably the only five seconds you know because the race lasts five seconds yeah only five seconds where nothing else matters I don't even think it's just a blur a blackout dude like I don't until after the run's over then I can
[19:46] tell you everything that happened but it's just like in the moment like I don't even know what's going on dude yeah and I think a lot of us really search for those moments today when we find ourselves 100 present yeah you know what I'm saying that's exactly what today is so distracting we've got so much stuff on our mindset all the time no moment you know what I mean it's just like so valuable yeah man it's it's a it's a unique feeling for sure yeah yeah I live for it though so let's talk about let's talk about your early career so you are needless to say a very accomplished drag racer so where do your early wins start happening when do you start realizing that like you have the ability to be really good at this sport probably in the junior dragster ranks I would say uh my first year I got my ass beat um and why why do you get your ass beat
[20:33] like what is that um it's for me in my opinion it's just experience um so at the time we're racing in age groups so when I started it was eight to ten-year-olds are in a group 10 to 12 year olds 13 or 15. so on so forth and um I'm raising some kids that have been Racing for a year or two granted I have the passion I've been around it but there's so many things that go into it like this is new to my dad you know what I'm saying he's used to tuning big block Chevys this is a you know a lawnmower motor you know what I'm saying with a long header on it and you have to figure out how to make that thing reliable and consistent and this is one cylinder versus eight cylinder alcohol versus gas like he's trying to figure out the setup I'm getting used to the car I'm trying to develop a routine it's just a lot going on that you have
[21:19] to figure out in order to be successful yeah so you know it took a little bit you know for me you know getting my butt whooped and that to me you know I come from a racing family so you know we're used to you know being successful in it or you know at least knowing how to find success yeah and getting beat all the time you know it humbles you and you have to find ways to not let that happen all the time so I think just the experience of you know learning everything and seeing how I win seeing how I lose see how see what works for other people and you know once you kind of build a foundation you understand how things work and you get a hand on a handle on things it started to get easier and the good thing about the junior dragster Racing League is that you're racing amongst your peers as far as you know your age group is concerned so it's easy to measure yourself so I'm like okay like the nine and ten year
[22:06] olds are really good so I need to race with them more you know what I'm saying whether it's me continuing to get my butt beat once I start winning once I get the formula then I'm gonna be a problem so the first year or so it was tough you know we did well but we didn't do as well as I wanted to do I think we had like in our first season I finished third in points and there was like maybe 20 or 25 other kids in the group oh seriously so I didn't do terrible but I didn't I wasn't the best yeah then the goal was always to be the best you know what I'm saying so um I think shortly after that it probably took a year or two in juniors and then I started winning um you know two three four races in a row and then the other kids are kind of like oh okay like you know now he's you know you got to watch out for him because he's starting to figure it out so once
[22:54] once I kind of got a glimpse of my own success it was good but what was even more important for me was to realize Um how my success affected my competition because they're like okay you know everyone wants to be friends hey I know you just lost but we can go play at the trailer but now it's just like oh you won two or three races in a row like I'm gonna go work out yeah right exactly whatever dude like no you can't play with us you can't hang out with us like you know now I want to beat you so it was just like it was cool you know just the spirit of competition was uh was always a good thing but you know to answer the question I think it was just like a a couple years in once I got comfortable and once I found out how to be competitive and had that will to always you know to strive to be the best that's when I was like okay like we got something here yeah we got something here as soon as you get that first taste of success it
[23:41] just makes you want it more and more and more and it just made me want to be better and it's the same now it hasn't changed yeah I mean I believe it but like the thing I want to have you communicate as well to the audience is like the difference of winning and losing in Drag Racing is how big like are we talking seconds are we talking like bro we're talking thousands of seconds wow we're talking yeah we're talking one thousandth of an error one mistake if the sun sets at the wrong time if the wind picks up at the wrong time um literally anything can be the cause of you losing or winning a Race So the good Racers um they take control of as much as they possibly can and do whatever they can to give themselves an advantage to win because at the end of the day it's you
[24:27] versus the guy in the other lane yeah and you know technically it's you know you have a 50 chance of winning or losing just like the other guy but for me it's just like whatever you put in prior to coming into the race you know the maintenance making sure your car prepared making sure you're prepared making sure you're mentally aware of everything that's going on and just being prepared to do whatever you can that you can control to win this round it's that small bro that small of a mistake and it's over wow yeah it happens so fast so fast talking about coming up to the tree everything turns yellow go green we're smashing you have to be the best version of yourself for five seconds wow what you said there you said a couple seconds ago we have to get the routine down yeah so what is Tristan's routine look like uh I have a unique
[25:14] routine okay I have a unique on track routine um for me one of the best lessons my dad it was one of the first things that he taught me when we were going racing he was like I don't care what anyone says no matter what never let anyone rush you you will always take your time don't do anything until you're ready to do it and uh that was like really beneficial for me because you're only that race only lasts five seconds long so you need to do everything you can to be prepared um because it could go either way so for me it's just uh my routine is longer my on track routine is longer I take I do a lot of breathing exercises while I'm in the car to just get in that zone to make sure okay like I'm not thinking about anything else other than this reaction time and focusing on where this other car is and and executing my
[26:03] game plan so but beyond that you know while I'm not on the racetrack the routine is you know maintenance um you can't win a race if your car doesn't run um because you said a couple seconds ago or a couple minutes ago you were like my dad had to figure out how to make this engine consistent and I think a lot of people have a misconception when it comes to racing in general that you think that everything is going to be the same every time right but when you're dealing with the dragster you're talking about really maintaining all of the variables of the engine of Tire temperatures everything like that so what were some of the challenges and why is consistency in getting your engine kind of so on point so key and then what kind of stuff do you have to do to get your kind of car from a maintenance perspective to you yeah so for this particular style of racing that I do which is called bracket racing
[26:49] consistency is the most important thing you have to know or be able to predict how your car is going to react in certain conditions certain tracks certain regions and uh how you're going to drive in order to win a race so man it's just uh you know you have certain combinations you can build as far as your engine your tires your wheels um man what does all that mean it it just depends on what you're going for um it can mean anything some people like to have really fast cars and they want to use that you know as their advantage over the cars that might not be as fast not meaning the fast car is more competitive or anything like that but maybe their style of racing is it suits them better if they have a faster car
[27:37] okay maybe some person is used to a slower car and they like to be um because we get head starts in racing I don't know if you're familiar with that yeah tell the audience about what this is yeah so it's it's pretty interesting so I guess the quickest way I can I can explain it is um you have to understand you have to you have to be able to predict what your car is going to do so let's say I get two practice runs um practice run my car makes it from the starting line to the finish line and five seconds flat second practice run it makes it from the starting line to the finish line and 5.05 seconds now eliminations come if you lose this race you're done for the day you pack up you go home so now you have to know okay given the information of the two runs that I had I have to predict what my car is going to do on this next run because
[28:24] this is what's going to generate my head start or not so let's say you have a 10 second car I have a five second car you're gonna get a five second Head Start when the light turns green You're Gonna Go five seconds later I'm gonna go and in theory Whoever has the best reaction time and whoever is closest to their predicted um elapsed time that's going to win the race okay so not only am I racing the conditions on my car I'm also using what's going on in your lane what you're doing as references on how to win the race so I want to get to the Finish Line first but by the smallest margin as possible wow yes so it it brings in a whole nother Dynamic and a whole nother element of okay we're moving at 160 miles an hour I'm gauging where he is I have to know if I had a good reaction time I got to make sure I get heat in the tires so the car has traction so it runs what I'm expecting it to run if it
[29:12] doesn't run what I'm expecting it to run what am I going to do yeah so there's so much that goes into it so many you know there's different game plans that you can use but um it all goes into your preparation and how you set your car up wow so if you have the 10 second car and you're comfortable with me chasing you and you getting that five second Head Start you're gonna have to be good at being able to look back on a car that's coming on you and closing on you at such a high rate but you can only get to the finish line by this much so we talking about like in those situations when I'm gauging what the other person in the other lane is doing I'm like this is while we're moving down the racetrack wow yeah so I could be going 160 miles an hour you could be going 120 and I'm closing in on you and you have to watch me and know that okay we're approaching the Finish Line he's coming up on me am I going to get to the Finish Line first
[29:59] is he going to get to the Finish Line first how can I manipulate it how can I make him make a mistake how can I win this race so there's a thousand things that you have to think about in five seconds and if you don't have your stuff together if you can't predict what your car is going to do it's going to make it that much harder for you to win the race because you don't know what variables how it's going to affect and how you're gonna typically try to manipulate the race in order to make him make a mistake or just to win the race funeral yeah so there's a lot going on so this is an element that I've never really taken into account right is the ability to I wouldn't say like like Pace somebody else you know what I'm saying but almost like kind of sandbag enough so you're getting the victory exactly so why is that margin at the end of the race have to be as small as possible what is that about because naturally I would be like if I'm a 10 second car I'm going to be throttle to
[30:46] the throttle to the ground I want to make my 10 second lap right it's your job to catch me but if why am I trying to balance that exactly so there's there's different types of racing so what everyone's familiar with is heads Up Racing yes heads Up Racing is we both started the starting line we both launched our cars at the same time the first car to the Finish Line wins yeah bracket racing is different bracket racing is is set up to be it's it's set up to make it so although you might not have as much money to have the fastest car here you can still be competitive so maybe you only have enough money to bring a 10 second car and race a car that's a five second car but you're gonna get a five second Head Start so in theory if I have a five second Head Start and I have a 10 second card he has a five second car we should make it to the Finish Line at the same time yeah so what comes into play is okay how do I get an advantage reaction
[31:34] time yeah sandbagging like you mentioned is a is a very prominent um scheme that people use to win races yeah so what you want to do is you have to you right on the card what's called your downline so this is telling me okay this is what I'm predicting how long I'm going to get to the starting line or I'm going to get to the Finish Line excuse me so let's say I write on my card five seconds you write on your car 10 seconds so the goal is if you write on your card that your elapsed time is going to be 10 seconds in order to win the race you have to get to the Finish Line in 10 seconds but not faster than that so if you run faster than 10 seconds say you get to the Finish Line at 9.9 seconds that means you're a 10th quick you get disqualified wow you lose the race right so both of the drivers have that element so okay this is this is what I'm
[32:22] expecting my car to do but if something changes and I'm running too fast or if I'm running too slow it's going to affect the outcome of the race yeah and I as the driver have to be able to negotiate you have to control that those elements as it's happening so I get a super hard start everything hooks up correctly I feel like I'm a little click I need to get out of it at the end of it to make sure that my timeline's up right exactly so you don't get to spell about so you can win the race right it's it makes it very interesting and it makes it very difficult to manipulate the race and to win the race because there's so many different ways of going about it to win the race man this is a complexity that I was really not aware of because every single time I see on like Instagram or something when you're taking home cash prizes and trophies and everything else you're literally being the most consistent person that's what it's about it's not about being the fastest it's about being the most consistent knowing your program
[33:10] um knowing yourself and knowing you're knowing your uh your equipment your car wow yeah so it's it's huge man it's huge you have to put a lot of time into it and you have really have to be I it sounds so cliche but you have to be one with your car yeah you have to be because at the end of the day what I love most about racing I mean you know we both like sports we're just talking about playing basketball and everything like that those are all team sports the best thing the one the most important thing about racing that I've that it's taught me throughout the years is that at the end of the day like I was explaining with my first encounter when I shut the car off once you put the helmet on you start it up and the race is on it is you in that car yeah you can't say oh he didn't play well he didn't rebound that's why we lost or they don't pass me the ball or he's injured that's why we lost at the end of the day when you're racing it's your fault if you win or it's your fault if
[33:58] you lose and if you win it's because of you yeah so it's it's really taught me to be accountable and uh you really have to take advantage of you know literally everything you can in order to win because it's just you in that car there's nobody else to blame I want to I want to tap into that word because naturally when you were kind of staying there I was like wow there's a huge sense of accountability 100 and the one thing that I really have appreciated about you and you said a little bit earlier in the podcast was uh your dad taught you to never rush your process right and so when I think about accountability especially in today's world like everybody loves to point blame right it's very easy to complain and be like they didn't do this or I should have or if we would have blah blah blah and when you're racing it really is you versus you out there so you're getting yourself in the mode in the routine in the zone to be able to be as consistent because you're racing against you right nobody else that's
[34:46] powerful it is so the sense of accountability was that something that naturally you started to understand through the sport or was your pop somebody also who kind of like hammered that stuff into early especially in those early days of losing it was a mixture it was a mixture for sure um that was just always one of the things that uh my dad was really uh he really hammered in as like me being a young man it's just like hey man um it was funny I had an older sister my sister's two years older it was just us growing up and my dad would leave for work and he would be like take care of your sister if if you don't you're gonna have to deal with me when I get home and I'm thinking to myself like she's the older one she should be taking care of me but what the point he was trying to make is you know you you have to be accountable you know what I'm saying I'm not here to do these things you're the man while I'm gone so you have to be accountable and you have to be responsible and you have
[35:32] to do what's right in order for us to succeed yeah same thing with racing um it's just you and that car it's just you preparing the car it's just you bringing the car to the racetrack granted you know you might have your friends or your teammates or you know your supporters that help you get to the races and everything like that but ultimately if you want to be good at it there's there's no point blaming and everything like that because it's not going to make you a better person or a better racer you're just gonna keep losing and then you're gonna try to find someone else to blame for it and you're not going to get any better yeah um I think that's in terms of racing that's why I've been able to continuously elevate my game it's just because I'm not afraid to hold myself accountable I think that's the best way to do it because um I'm constantly trying to find ways to be better sense of accountability right
[36:20] right so you're talking about that sense of accountability towards yourself is something that really is not going to serve you and I think that's a just a enormous world view to have just in general you know what I mean because we come across so many adversities in life that at the end of the day it really is you against you you know what I'm saying so why don't you tell us a a story about kind of that sense of accountability coming into Focus was there ever like an early racing experience that you had where you wanted to cast blame towards others and then you're you kind of had to remind yourself of that accountability man because I feel like I sound easy like there's mindset there's hundreds of examples I can give you an example literally every single time I go racing um like I said um racing especially you know with the conditions and everything and all the variables that go on it's so easy just to say oh well the engine was too hot
[37:09] that's why it slowed down or you know I ate too much breakfast that's why I'm a little sluggish and my reaction times are slower than what they usually are or there wasn't enough air in the tires you could point to anything to take the blame off for yourself why things were not going the way that they should go yeah every single time you go racing and it's easy to do that because it makes you feel better like okay well better like next time better luck next time type of deal but uh yeah I just it doesn't necessarily serve you when you're you know you're constantly looking to do better and to sustain success so uh man I could I could I could point to anything and tell you you know it why you know there's there's been times where I've lacked the accountability but no it just it doesn't serve you especially in this Sport and really in anything but I just think getting that out of your system is
[37:56] is as best as you possibly can is only going to make you uh more powerful especially in the racing world or just even as a person in general or just holding yourself accountable is so one thing I want to talk about now is so you demonstrate in your first year you say like hey I got my ass kicked but I came in third out of 20. right so you're doing pretty well right in your early days now you start getting additional accomplishments later in your career what is the landscape like so you know one thing that I really wanted to talk about today was the fact that you are a black man in a sport predominantly dominated by white people so what is it like in those early days when Tristan starts winning what is the vibe of the community that you've been a part of like what kind of differences do you notice anything because of your skin tone or what is that like yeah I mean it
[38:44] goes both ways I'd like to gravitate towards the positive ends because uh the community and racing is is probably the most important facet of racing like there is no sense of community other than like outside of the racing Community you know there's a lot of people there would give you the shirt off their back you break something oh I gotta spare like I'll bring it to you I'll help you fix it but on the flip side there's people that are not like that you know um like you said um the sport is is predominantly uh White I guess we could just you know we could be straightforward yeah and uh you know not everyone is used to people like me being around which is okay I understand that but uh there's been times where you know it's been uncomfortable for sure and uh you know there's been remarks maybe indirectly or you know whatever the case
[39:31] may be just the energy is a little bit different because I don't look like everyone else here yeah um there's been very few race tracks that I've gone to where there's been maybe one or two other people that have my complexion or anything like that and that's okay it is what it is that's just the nature of the sport but um there's been there's been some interesting times I'll just say it that way and then um but a lot of the times there's a lot of super supportive people super loving people and people that have embraced me regardless of skin tone or anything like that but it's cool it's I think I'm happy that I've been exposed to both sides of it yeah because it just helps you understand people and and how to move you know what I'm saying you kind of got to move and for me wherever I go I kind of just really focus on what I got going on um I like to tell my friends all the time you know I'm here to race I'm here
[40:18] to win the race and you know whatever else happens happens a lot of people are there you know just to hang out and you know spend time with a really nice car and a really nice RV and their friends and just relax you know some people that's their version of racing but it's not like that for everyone so you know for the people that are there you know just to enjoy themselves you know people have their groups and people that they like to hang out with and enjoy themselves and uh you know I kind of just I stick to the group of people that understand me because I'm super introverted I'm uncomfortable around strangers even like doing this is completely out of my element so luckily you know we've got a rapport so it's cool it's just like hanging out and talking to you about stuff that we always talk about but uh yeah I just I like to emerge myself around people that I'm comfortable with people that I know you know have good energy and we're all there for the same reason so yeah I just
[41:07] try to stray away from everything that's you know I'm not focused on at the racetrack yeah I know it's just like uh you know because I have a unique experience so being biracial dad's black mom's white right me being light-skinned as well right I've had the luxury and the issue of being on both sides of the fence right and one of the places that I live before moving to Vegas was I live in South Carolina and oh wow that mentality out there was very different for me yeah um because there was a way in which we approached race in general right and it was very I would say like separate it was very divisive in general and I just kind of think about your role as being a black man and being successful in drag racing in general it's like you're leading by example of how we should be doing these things so you have to almost have to hold yourself to a higher sense of
[41:54] accountability for sure again 100 um because I know that there are people out there and you might not kind of recognize this but imagine how many little kids have come to the track and seen you winning yeah do you know what I mean and like do you ever think about your role in somebody else's like vision for their future that that's become as of recently that's become really important to me I didn't I didn't really have the mindset about that or the I guess the capacity to really think about you know everyone watching um there's always so many people watching the races like now you know there's races people are racing for a million dollars it's streamed online thousands of people are watching all the time and like you say you know I could be at the trailer at the racetrack you know working on the car and a kid walks by and you know they're they're just locked in because you know that's what they like just like how I used to be yeah walking through the pits looking at cars like thinking dang man that that's
[42:41] so cool what they're able to do like one day I hopefully I'm able to do that and uh it took me growing up and understanding you know um people are watching kids are watching and I think in in terms of racing and really anything kids are the most important because um the only way racing is going to continue to evolve is when those kids grow up they're gonna have to fill our positions so yeah it's important to me as I mentioned before with me being you know such an introvert you know I kind of like to keep my racing to myself or I only like to really talk about people that that can understand that can digest exactly what it means to me but I've had friends mentioning me hey man like you need to you need to open up more about this because there's probably so many other little kids black kids or biracial kids or whatever the case may be that are not necessarily comfortable you know
[43:29] striving for something like that because they don't see too many people like them doing it yeah we don't have the representation right exactly so unless you go out there and say Hey you know you can do this too you know someone might not go after it and uh that was never I never really thought about that because you know like I said like I was just immersed in racing my dad did it his dad did it you know my uncles are on board with it everyone thinks it's fun and cool so naturally I'm thinking everyone else like if you want to race just go race you know what I'm saying but it's not like that it's not as easy for everyone else like that so um I've been trying to make um more efforts to you know incorporate you know just let people know like hey you know if it's something that you're interested in go for it dude like I'm no different than anyone else I'm definitely uh I mean I I was never in a position that put me here because you know it wasn't by chance it was just just because I
[44:16] wanted to do it and I love to do it and I and I went after it and everyone else can too and that's not even racing that's for anything you know what I'm saying like we got we got Muhammad Ali on the wall and uh and Reggie Miller and everything like that and everyone wants to be them but you know until you see Muhammad Ali knocking people out until you see Reggie Miller you know doing the choking thing and hitting crazy crazy threes and everything like that you don't think you can do it until you see someone else do it yeah and that's you know some kid was in the backyard working on their crossover because it's already doing it and there could be some kid in his backyard working on this dirt bike or his go-kart because he saw Tristan doing it yeah and Lord knows what he might turn into so I it's important for me now I'm happy that I'm understanding how important that is for you know everyone else watching yeah and that's a big responsibility that you
[45:03] start to click into yeah on the other side of your 20s and you get into your 30s and when you start to get a little bit older you get that perspective so one of the things that I always see you doing on social media is working on your car always so let's talk about what type of stuff comes into the maintenance perspective of making sure that your car is running because one thing I see all the time and this is something I loved doing when I was a kid was taking my car apart yeah but I never got to the depths of like breaking down an engine block and stuff like you've done yeah so let's talk about kind of like the things that you need to know how to do to have your own dragster your own race car like what are we talking about from like a you know a handy like mechanical perspective what kind of stuff are you doing man um see for me I'm not a rich man so
[45:51] do it's it's very important to me to be Hands-On with as much things as I possibly can simply from you know the the financial aspect it can really save you a lot by knowing how to do things but there's such a lot there's so many great companies and resources thankfully that I have that I can reach out to and you know they help me a lot but for me I just try to you know control everything that I can and we're hard on these cars man racing is it's uh it's a lot so things break all the time and for me I can't win a race if my car don't run you know I can't go to the racetrack if my truck can't pull the trailer to get to the racetrack so it's bigger than just the race cars the truck has to be ready the trailer has to be ready you need to have tires on the truck tires tires on the trailer slicks on the race car an engine has to be running on the car
[46:39] everything it is 100 percent a chore and I don't mean that to sound negative but you have to stay on top of these things otherwise you're not going to even make it to the racetrack so I think that goes overlooked a lot you know everyone just seeks me at the racetrack racing and everything like that and thinks it's just fun and and everything like that but man um what would the equation be of like the work that gets done behind the scenes that nobody sees compared to what you do at the racetrack like what is that like racism dude I'm just having fun at the racer well if nothing breaks at the racetrack but yeah dude it's like 99 to one I guess it's like 99 preparation to go have that one percent of fun and be able to compete uh uh but yeah it's a lot man um you know we're doing anything from wiring the car making sure everything
[47:28] the one from the from a wiring perspective is good to constantly changing tires making sure you got a good set of tires because that can affect things that could that can affect consistency how long have your tires last uh it depends it depends on your setup it depends on how long of a burnout you like to do if you like to show off and get them real hot they don't last as long but it's it's it's really subjective depending on your program for me um I have a lot of supporters that you know they make sure that I have good equipment you know at my disposal when I need it but uh man not very long I would say there's not too many parts on the car that last longer than a calendar year that's for sure wow there's really not much um I might keep my helmet longer than that yeah because that thing doesn't get beat up too much but yeah we have a uh an influx of inventory in my garage and
[48:18] my trailer and at my sister's house at my mom's house you know wherever I could put parts yeah I have it at my disposal and uh yeah we're constantly checking on things and making sure the maintenance is uh on par because that can cost you a lot of money when things go wrong so you're not a rich man but you're a dragster so do you have sponsors or people yeah I do have how does that why does that work I have supporters that help me out um luckily for me it's just been based off of the relationships I've made with people throughout the years of being at the racetrack but um yeah when you do well you know obviously you have more people more eyes on you and a lot of people that may you know want to be involved with your program and luckily I've got a couple people on my side that help me out but ultimately you know the burden falls on me for the majority of things so yeah I got people that'll help me out
[49:06] with tires and you know I got my buddies that'll help me work on my engine and machine shops that help me out to you know build Motors and make sure everything's kosher but uh yeah I mean it really comes down to who you have a good relationship with who you want to work with who can you um partner with to let them know hey I can help you as much as you can help me so uh the you know the thing about sponsorships everyone thinks that you know you win races everyone comes to you and they want to sponsor you it's not necessarily that way yeah it's also about what you can help them do as far as you know um people you know they want their brand out there but they also want to return because they have business too so they want to deal with people that can help them sell parts help themselves merge whatever the case may be and uh if it's mutually beneficial then you know you
[49:53] can get you can get deals done yeah so uh it's it's it's tough that's a whole different ballpark in terms of racing you know that's more of the you know the uh the advertisement and stuff like the marketing side of it which one needs to help me out with yeah Rob and uh man but it's cool man it's cool luckily like I said you know I've been doing this for a while since I was a kid and I've met a lot of great people that are extremely helpful and this is not something you can do 100 on your own no yeah it may seem like I'm doing a lot of this stuff on my own but there's so many people in the background that help me out and even if it's just a friend like you that I could talk to and get some of this weight off so I can go to the race you know with with less on my shoulders that helps too bro like anything man it's it's there's so much that goes into it so the way in which you're providing value for your sponsors is you're winning is that what it looks like I try
[50:41] to do as best as I can you know they like to see um they like to you know people gravitate towards who are winning so you when you watch someone that not not even winning all the time just if you can do well consistently over a span of years and uh just compete people want to say you know they want to see what kind of Parts you're using on cars that are winning races or doing well you know you're like okay this guy just won a hundred thousand dollars at a race what kind of tires does he use what kind of seat belts does he have what kind of safety gear does he like he looks really comfortable in that maybe I should get that fire jacket maybe I should get those gloves or anything like that so it's not just winning even though that definitely helps you know a lot of people that's probably the easiest way to get attention is by winning but uh it's also what I've learned is it's how you carry yourself that's how you brand right it's how you deal with people like do people want to come and deal with me
[51:29] do kids want to come talk to me and you know am I willing to take the time and you know let the kids check out the trailer check out the car and see what's going on you know people want to deal with people that are nice and fun and you know makes it easier for them you know just to do business with so it's a lot more than winning that's a common thing that I used to think you know when I was a kid oh I just got to win and then everyone will love me yeah that's not the case you know it's you really have to be an all-around good person and provide you know a return on you know for the people that want to help you out so it works I feel like that mindset is only gained through experience and time yeah right for sure and so while we were you know before we hopped on live today you had said something I want to dive into you said the last couple years have been really good for us yeah so what does that mean what are the last couple years looked like for you oh man it's interesting for me like from an
[52:19] emotional standpoint I'm happy with how my racing is going because I lost my dad a few years ago and that was my guy he was my crew chief he was you know every engine that was in any car that I drove me and my dad built it every car that I drove me and my dad had put it together this was before you know I had a lot of the uh the Partnerships and and the resources that I had um so when I lost my dad one of the initial things when I lost him I was like I don't know if I'm going to be able to do this without him you know what I'm saying like he was the one that I would call you know like you know we need to work on the engine or you know just just to get his two cents on thing because he was my old man you know he's been through this he understands exactly what I'm going through so when I lost him I was pretty concerned I was like I don't know if I'm going to be able to sustain this but luckily you know through his will from up above and you know all the good friends and
[53:07] Partnerships or you know resources that I have now I've been doing well I've been winning races um especially local you know um the local racing scene to me is probably what's more important to me just because like personally I don't think you know if you can't win at home you're not going to be able to go anywhere else and win right so you got to secure home base and that type of mindset and I've been doing really well at home and I've been traveling a bit and uh doing finding success at other racetracks too and that's hard to do you know when you go to places or you're in regions that you're that you're not at often or you're racing at certain race tracks that you're not as familiar with it's hard to do well you know you got to really have your stuff together and you got to be really you got to be really locked in in the last few years I've uh you know like I said it's not always about all winning every single race but if you can perform well at a number of
[53:54] races and you know some of the best racers in the country are at these races if you can perform well um like for instance earlier in uh March I was at a race called the Spring Fling which is arguably one of the biggest races of the year we had 700 Racers on property you're here at Las Vegas Motor Speedway wow racing you know and we're Racing for a million dollars and uh one of the days one of the um one of the more competitive days we started with 700 cars and I'm finding myself like the last 30 cars left like we started with 700 cars there's 30 left and we're Racing for a lot of money and there's a lot at stake you know and I'm holding my own against some of the best in the country and it's such a fulfilling feeling because you know they've all put so much into their program they would not be there you can't be there if you're not good at
[54:41] what you do yeah you know what I'm saying they're you know everyone's one of the best in their city or wherever they're from in their region and it's just all of us duking it out and competing and you know I'm able to hold my own wherever I go and that's what's important to me is just because you know I started that literally started at the bottom and I and I've built it up here and I've been able to maintain it you know without my dad being around and I know he's super proud of me and I'm just happy that you know he's instilled this Foundation he helped build this foundation for me to continue on without him yeah and uh I'm just really proud of that I'm really proud of what I've built you know and been able to sustain given how hard it is to do this like you really don't know how hard it is to be successful in this deal unless you're emerged into it so yeah that's what I mean when I say the last few years have been really good to me man that's a great that's incredible to hear why
[55:28] don't you give yourself an opportunity to kind of like talk about some of the accomplishments so you talk about Spring Fling what type of other type of things yeah man so we are in the year 2023 last year I was the 2022 Las Vegas Motor Speedway super pro track Champion for the season wow so we had a 12 race series pretty much and uh you know there's 12 different races whoever does the best throughout those 12 races and accumulates the most points is your track Champion for the year and I was able to win that last year congratulations man yeah it was awesome man it was awesome and um super pro is just a category that I was racing in last year and um a couple years before that I won Pearl which is a different category category I've won in every category that there is here in Las Vegas to offer wow so I've won track championships last year was the year
[56:15] that I I guess it's kind of like a hat trick so last year was the year that I you know I sustained a championship in super pro I won a championship in Pro and I've won it kind of like their their beginning uh category which is called Sportsman okay so I've won championships at every single level that there is here in Las Vegas and that's really that's really important to me because that was something my dad was never able to do and it was kind of one of those things that he was like you know as I was getting better he's like if you just listen to me you can win all of these races yeah and now it's like come to fruition yeah so to be a champion um in all those different categories at home when I'm racing against I'm racing against people that I used to watch when I was a kid so it's come full circle you know these these people were my heroes at one point watching them race you know granted to me it's just racing on a
[57:02] Friday night but these these guys are rock stars to me so now here I am competing on the same level with them and having success and winning championships and uh it's it's amazing dude it's amazing I'm doing really well um but as far as that you know we've we've done well at a lot of the bigger events in our region I try to travel a little bit in nearby areas when it's feasible and when it makes sense too but yeah there's been a lot of race tracks throughout the West Coast that I've found a lot of success in wow so well let's talk about one of those moments of who is a Top Dog in your space that you kind of watch growing up and you found yourself on the track against them and you end up winning who is that person what is that experience like man there's a couple man there's a couple um I guess for the sake of an example I would say there's this guy his name is
[57:50] John flagar okay uh John is my dad's age I used to watch John he used to wear my dad out whenever they would race dude super nice guy you know like he's known me since I was you know a kid he used to come over to the house and work on cars with my dad but uh one of the full circle moments is a is racing with him you know and beating him and being like damn dude this guy used to beat up on my dad dude you know what I'm saying like he was like you know he was where I wanted to be he was the ceiling for me yeah and now I've worked my way up to race him and be John and a couple other people that you know you know everyone's a good most people are good Racers but I think for him just having that you know that all all perspective of like man dude like this is really happening and I've had success you know racing as people who have been
[58:37] Racing for far longer than I have who've accomplished so much more than I have this is really real now that you know I'm at this level and I'm able to be just as competitive and and find success in it yeah so shout out to John too that's my guy we text all the time yeah what was it like what was John's reaction the first time that you beat him on a big fish he was cool he was he was graceful about it um I think he knew it was coming not from like uh you know me being a [ __ ] show-off or anything like that but he knew he knew it was coming and uh you know he even told me he's like oh man like I've watched you you've been waiting for this moment you know it was inevitable that this was gonna happen so keep it up kid but next time I'm gonna kick your ass yeah it's like no you won't yeah thanks I've got you know you're right exactly exactly man that's crazy well I mean that's just like such
[59:23] a cool experience I think that kind of rounds it um so I want to take the conversation in a little bit of a different direction so when you and I first met I had a Jeep SRT8 right I also had a CTS-V so uh laxat motor supercharged long tube headers loud as [ __ ] you should have never got rid of either of those yeah I know they had to move on yeah and now I'm intentionally wearing the Tesla shirt today because I've made the jump over to the electric team you switched up on us I switched up man and I got to be honest with you there's nothing about an electric car that compares to you know a regular car with a big cam as long as you admit that bro 100 it's just not the same it's like a completely different experience right it seems kind of disconnected to be very transparent they're fast of course I love Teslas in general but they just
[1:00:11] don't feel the same right and so you know your upbringing from a car's perspective what type of cars really caught your attention growing up like what was your like oh my God look at that car American Muscle American muscle dude like I get into this debate with my friends often about the electric vehicle stuff I'm like they are cool you know what I'm saying like I've always been around cars but like I always tell my buddies like so what feeling do you get when you pull up to pick your girl up to go on a Friday night date and she doesn't hear your car coming up outside like how did she not you know there's a different type of vibe when you pull up to your girl's house and she can hear that you're outside 100 she can hear the headers and she knows to come out and you guys are gonna have fun you guys gonna go hit the town when you pull up in your Tesla you got to text her or go ring the doorbell hey by the way I'm outside you might not hear the car it's
[1:00:58] true or even getting in the car bro you know what I'm saying like it's such maybe it was just the way that I was brought up but like if it doesn't have an internal combustion engine like I don't want to hear it bro yeah I don't want to hear it so for me it was always muscle cars just because that was what my dad was always working on that's what he liked he was a Die Hard Chevrolet guy yeah so I'm not even allowed to talk about Teslas or Dodges or Fords like that it would be sacrilegious in my household yeah but yeah dude like American muscle cars uh Chevelle it's one of my favorite car Nova which I have now one of my favorite cars anything like that anything you would see on a Friday night at a drag strip is what I'm gravitating towards yeah but I've grown an appreciation for new stuff you know what I'm saying like I I would appreciate a You Know M series BMW or anything like that I'm just a Gearhead
[1:01:45] dude anything that's relatively quick or anything it doesn't even have to be quick if someone's put their time into it and they care about it I'm gonna give it the time of day because I understand how that works yeah it could be you know a Model T for all that you know if it only goes 20 miles an hour but if you put time into it and you care about that car bro I feel you yeah because I know how that works man so I'll take the time show me what you got going on man and I'll appreciate it for what it's worth but uh yeah man as far as what I gravitate to old muscle cars till the day I die yeah that's what I'm into that uh sense of I would say craftsmanship is huge yeah you know what I mean because one of my favorite cars I've ever had was an E46 M3 and the ultimate driving machine by the words of BMW right and feeling how that car handled the sequential gearbox and everything was just so enthralling and you just became
[1:02:34] so involved in like the experience of driving right and now that I have the Tesla it's like this just doesn't feel the same you know what I mean it's like I even think about myself like what kind of cars am I going to get in the future because I can't do this electric thing forever yeah you know what I mean would you ever consider getting an electric car for sure bro for sure I've driven plenty of them and they're awesome but I think every you know there's a time and place for everything yeah but yeah I'm not anti-electric cars but I'm just saying what I gravitate to and what I appreciate more yeah is the traditional you know hot rod yeah no I got you so what I want to do now this is a little bit of a different segment here for the podcast we're going to play a game of smash or pass okay okay so I've got a whole bunch of cars here Friday night bro but we've got a couple cars up here so the first one that I'm gonna show you is an R32 okay it's Skyline that thing's
[1:03:22] clean dude smash or pass yeah um not my style but that thing is clean bro it's slam nice Wheels to it it's got a nice stance yep real clean car imma pass though respectfully okay but for someone else if that's you know I would I would respect if the homies say smash but for me that's a pass that's a smash for me just because of the legacy of where this comes from in like the cold car the car culture right you're saying like having a big turbo in one of these things yeah absolutely crazy yeah it would be a handful it'd be fun to drive too yeah we're still R32 Tristan pass okay here we go next car we've got here is a GT3 RS in purple smash or pass very clean car fast car I've driven one of these before awesome car but bro I'm you should
[1:04:10] understand I'm 6'3 bro I'm not cramping I know six six right we're talking like size out of it you know what I'm saying like we could fit in these things right okay okay well I just I like to be thorough with my smash or pass because there's a lot that goes into this yeah but uh I'd smash I'd smash that's a fun car to drive it's fast yeah it's a clean car it catches eyes I can appreciate the craftsmanship I'd smash yeah this takes me back to like the M3 days so me and my buddy Dante we uh went and did the Las Vegas speed thing yeah where you can drive like the Ferraris and everything Dante Hopson in a 458 Ferrari I hop in a GT3 and the choices he could not catch me just saying in general because like that car handles so well right and like that is like one of my dream cars is like figuring out how to get into a GT3 yeah because I feel like that is just
[1:04:57] like an ultimate monster shout out to Dante dude I missed that guy yeah so Dante's over in uh Bali right now I'm sorry maybe they're in the Philippines I don't know there's somewhere in he's living there he's living it up he's probably still driving the 458. probably still driving to 450. okay so this is also in the Porsche family so GT2 RS rear wheel drive turbo the um what do they call this the Widowmaker because so many people crash these things that's it what's your perspective oh man fun car I don't think I've driven one of these yet I've seen plenty of them very sexy car for sure very sexy not sexy enough to smash though I'm gonna okay pass on that though if I mean like this is only gonna cost you like 280 000 right you know what I'm saying that's a
[1:05:44] light that's a light path okay okay next car we've got here on the list and this is a throwback for me and this holds a special heart my place in my heart uh CTSV first gen Kina now we're talking yes we're getting there brother I am smashing disrespectfully this is one of my favorite cars yes um huge LS fan yep as you know uh really really want still want one of these cars we'll have one of these cars soon probably a wagon instead but Ultra smash wife there forever yes like I want to wake up next to you CTSV this is the one right here yep I'm glad you did this this one yeah so let's talk about let's talk about the wagon though why is the wagon like your [ __ ] ah dude I don't know man I wish I had an
[1:06:31] answer for you but I just always gravitated towards wagons I know I don't know if it's the uh I don't know if they're more personable because you know you could take a wagon to the grocery store throw a case of water in the back and still race someone on the way home yeah but as far as the CTS-V wagon specifically uh they're super desirable but bro you don't see too many of them um yeah big wagon guy in in any facet love uh Nova wagons are awesome just a big wagon guy I don't know why maybe I just like big obnoxious vehicles that are still fast because that's hard to do yep that might be it that might be it it's just different it's a different vibe yeah I'm uh as you can tell like I'm not really into the typical so big wagon guys that's a big that's a big place in my heart as well because there's nothing sexier like I've seen some of these CTSV
[1:07:20] wagons that will be like in all black with like slicks on the back yeah and I'm like this guy is going to the grocery store I'm not gonna try and drop him at the light you know what I'm saying yeah we're on the same list that's the top of my list okay so now we've got something European here so this is an Audi R8 very fast car very fast car very fast car yeah V10 yeah all right oh smash or pass bro you giving me some tough ones you took your time on this I did the R8 is gonna be a Smash bro that's it's it's fast yeah um at the end of the day I'm a Motorhead we talk about a high performance mindset this is what emulates a high performance mindset yeah and you can throw your girl in the car and she will hear you when you're out front yeah she will have fun and uh you could do the staring drive in
[1:08:07] this thing right here you can hit it with the Tyrese on this for real and uh I tell her I learned it from Keenan there you go I love that that's a really good one okay we got a couple more on the list here so this is going to be a throwback and not a lot of people really know about these but I'm sure you will so this is not a Chevy but this is a Ford I had a buddy Tyler Scott back in the day his dad worked for Ford in Michigan and his dad was like a VP of something and he would always come home with like the dopest [ __ ] like I'm talking like brand new gt500s Roush stage three Mustangs everything and he one time he brought home a Roush stage 3 F-150 oh boy yes this is big time bro this is big time you see a lot of these on a Friday night well not a lot because not too many people have is but if you do see these you have to take the time
[1:08:55] to check it out and appreciate it very fast truck underrated truck uh I'm a big truck guy too this is a hard Super Smash Bros because this is fire bro and it's domestic too so I can appreciate that I'm you know I'm big on America yeah so uh yeah nice truck Fast truck fun truck comfortable truck for someone six feet and above which which is very important to me Super Smash Bros imagine like having your trailer hooked up to that thing exactly you know what I'm saying like exactly very practical drawing man and that picture's fire too he's really getting after it in that burnout dude yeah I had a uh I don't know if you remember or not I had a Mustang Ford Saleen Mustang I did when I was 18 years old and it made me was never a big four guy like I said but I snuck that one
[1:09:43] into my uh collection just because it was a really nice car and it was fun to drive so uh I developed a love for it at the time don't really care much for him anymore because I was young and dumb but very nice truck I would smash okay 100 so I've got something that's new to the market and I was exposed to this via a YouTube video and it didn't really pay attention to it and I was like oh my God that sounds crazy so I turned off the video but I was down on Eastern the other day and this pulls up to me a mammoth 1000 oh the Ram truck big dog Hennessy thousand horsepower shout out to Hennessy dude man big rim this is fire bro this is it for sure uh I've I've lately I've been on a truck kick probably because you know whatever but this is fire bro this is the mammoth I'm going I'm smashing that
[1:10:32] for sure and I'm gonna need to keep that too that's gonna stay around that's not gonna be a one night stand yep I need to get after that a couple times yeah and uh really see what it's about because you can do so much with this bro you can do so much we could we could drag race we can get on the trail a little bit and get crazy we can bring the homies in the back yep we can have the cooler in the bed of the truck yeah we could also pull the trailer I like something that is you know multi-purposeful yeah so this is also a smash and it's clean too black on black as always I'll never say no to black on black so that's fire so let's talk about the origin of this truck let's talk about Hennessy performance down in Texas so what's your two cents on Hennessy and let us people know a little bit about them yeah next level Hennessy does crazy builds bro uh they do some wild aftermarket stuff with you know I guess
[1:11:20] what would be regular cars um they can find some performance out of these cars and they take them to the next level um very good source to follow whether it be Instagram Facebook or something like that check out Hennessy they do some crazy stuff big fan always been a big fan once my pocketbook can support it I'll be there yeah we're going to get yourself for sure yeah anything is possible with those guys okay so this is something that we're gonna see rolling around in Vegas very popular okay I would say also something that as we currently sit might not be able to get into but we've got a Aventador svj benador yeah bro gotta love it dude gotta love it um not crazy about it I do appreciate it also I keep saying this but of course
[1:12:10] these are all fast cars badass car crazy engineering done with this deal I want to say pass but can you I mean look at it bro it's like Reptar with four wheels on that dude personally I'm passing on an event you're passing on it yeah ah I'll probably pass on it too but it's it's it's I'm gonna have to think about it like I'm gonna pass and be like reaching out yeah I'm walking away great car super fun car but uh not my style no I feel you I feel you okay yeah I don't feel like that's like something we'd be uh like trailing around the multi-purpose stuff that you think it's so important yeah that's that's a all right so I want to see if you can name this car okay okay so this is something very interesting do you know what the
[1:12:58] name of this car is if you gave me 15 minutes to stare at it I could give you the name but off the top of my head I do not it's fire though this is dope so this is a Volkswagen Thing thing yep I was gonna say that thing looks familiar but I thought it would go over your head but yeah this is dope bro yeah we we uh we pull up with the top missing we got the all-terrains on Big Wheels like this could be fun bro this could be something you know we're cruising Beachside with that's what I was thinking if I lived in Hawaii this is this is a Vibe I'm smashing you're smashing for sure because it's durable because you need something different right yeah exactly and it's different bro and that's going to catch us you're not gonna be at a red light and not catch 100 so this is the arch nemesis of my
[1:13:48] current setup this is the Lucid air oh yeah what do you think about these amazing dude they look sick dude that front end is A1 uh not for everyone I know this is one of those deals where you'll get a lot of mixed opinions on but it's a smash for me bro um it's just a cool looking ride dude it's sleek um I'm big on the way cars look yeah this looks fired you can't tell me otherwise yeah um almost like a a Batmobile type Vibe you know what I'm saying shout out to the Batman lovers because I'm definitely one yeah me too but yeah bro this is fire this is smash this isn't my first choice but if I had this in the Arsenal I'm whipping it out weekly yeah this is like that executive like yeah
[1:14:35] mobile Pusher one percent yeah or 100 sorry like I'm I'm locked in right now this thing is sexy but yeah I'm in on that for sure I like that one a lot the only reason I say it's an arch nemesis of Tesla is because the one of the chief technology officers from Tesla are one of the chief Engineers split from Tesla I want to say back in like 2018 or 2019 right and founded Lucid air and so they're going through the troubles and trials the troubles and tribulations of trying to like scale a company so some of the information I think is really interesting in 2021 they said they're going to deliver 26 or 24 000 Vehicles okay they delivered 7 000. so they're not exactly hitting their Mark okay so this car in itself is amazing great first generation I would say like automotive electric vehicle company it's only up from here too I hope they make
[1:15:22] it yeah you know I mean because it's really amazing and the tech is just crazy yeah okay that's the next level so talking this is going to be a little reference to street racing because a couple years ago there was a really really popular show I want to say it was like on a e or something like that where they show how much people street racing all over the country okay tell me if you can name this truck that's farm truck right there farm truck right there farm truck shout out to farm truck and Asian yeah this is a staple right here bro Yep this is a staple right here this is my style right here this is for lack of better words old rundown but whoop your ass bro this is it don't look fast but try me yeah this is this is my type of energy 100 this is a sleeper this is what we call a sleeper right here ladies and gentlemen that's
[1:16:08] right it's a very fast truck a very heavy truck and it takes a lot of work to make this combination work much like what I do and uh yeah I got a lot of respect for the street outlaws crew um I've I've dealt with a lot of that crowd directly and uh this is number one Smash If we ranked all the smashes this is at the top farm truck is the one I think it's good what size tire do you think's on the back of this that's a big slick uh there's room on that truck I don't know if it's tubbed probably not but if I had to guess that's at least that's probably a 32 by 14 probably wider than that big tire big tire it'll help get that thing going and so this is one of the things that I think people need to be aware of and you guys will see this in the podcast but
[1:16:55] it's like if you pull up next to a car right on the street and you look at the rear tire and it's mismatched you know what I'm saying and they got something thick like this on there you need to get away from that thing at all costs because that guy's not playing around but he's ready yeah exactly yeah 100 okay we got uh we got a couple more on here so this is one that I think is really great I love the design of this car and it really kind of just like pushed the limit or the ceiling okay cool this thing kind of pushed the ceiling so this is the plaid plaid what do you think about this guy yeah I've uh I've been in a couple of these me and my buddies talk about these often badass car bro very very fast car yeah very fast uh these are actually becoming more and more prominent in the bracket racing world or just the racing World in
[1:17:42] general but especially drag racing uh I'm smashing I'm smashing for sure yeah it has the specs on here 1000 horsepower Peak horsepower in an instant yeah almost very fun very fast I'm smashing bro super fast cards it costs a pretty penny yeah but it's worth it but like how much so like we took picture the gt2rs on here right it costs you 260 plus thousand you can get a plaid for 125. yeah it's almost at discounts you know what I mean for what it's capable of this is Pennies on the dollar I think think that's awesome yeah 100 I'm a fan of these specifically of Tesla this is this is my go-to Tesla if I have to yeah go on the electric wave but this is a badass car bro yeah this thing like really kind of like set the standard and I I think it's interesting so like I want you to take a little bit of Deep
[1:18:28] dive why is the Tesla The Plaid especially making its way into drag racing just because it it has a ridiculous amount of power that it can make um and it it that simply trans it translates to people wanting to see it at the racetrack yeah and it's it's very interesting to see how with the electrical cars how things are evolving um they have all these electrical race or the electric cars are becoming more prominent because a lot of people think that's what the future is going to look like and these cars can compete with a lot of the internal combustion engines and race cars you know a similar value yeah so you know for a hundred thousand dollars or whatever the price point may be on the Plaid versus a hundred thousand dollar muscle car it'll be interesting to see you know which car outperforms the other
[1:19:16] yeah so it adds another element of you know like it's different yeah it's different but it's cool that's one of those differences I'm willing to embrace yeah at the racetrack because it's cool I mean uh you know I mean at the end of the day we're all speed demons and enthusiasts and I like to see those at the race yeah no I love that for sure so this one's a little bit different I want to see if you can name this and then I want to kind of dive into why I think this car is so special okay do you know what this is uh is that a Lotus so that's an Alfa Romeo my bad yeah that thing's nice dude so this is the Alfa Romeo C4 okay so this thing has a complete carbon fiber tub so the entire whip is basically all carbon fiber so it is incredibly light
[1:20:04] and I've seen a couple of these cruising around here in Vegas and I always wonder who's the person who bought this thing because this is not a Porsche this is not a 911. you know what I'm saying this is not a Tesla but this is an Alfa Romeo that is all carbon fiber I think it's got like 280 horsepower or something like that and it is quick right yeah 280 sounds low but it that's that's a creeper that's one of those Creepers on you yeah don't don't sleep on 280 that's something light yeah yeah that's a cool looking ride I'm not familiar with this not as obviously not as familiar as I should be but yeah it's all carbon very rare put some time into it and uh I'm sure it's got some get up to it yeah sure yeah these things are uh these things are super rare I think it's very interesting when people come into the marketplace with like a different perspective on what a vehicle should be you know what I'm saying so like let me look at
[1:20:51] um Alpha Romeo C4 I'm still passing though but I mean I'm interested in the story for sure I'm sure it's let me see what it's 203 37 horsepower okay so not something that's astonishingly high but yeah definitely a fast whip that's for sure 100 yeah I've never I don't know if I've seen those before I'm glad you showed me yeah really cool car okay so next we're gonna go to a McLaren P1 Theo McLaren huh that's a fire picture too it just looks fast even on a picture uh McLaren's fire still not my style like you I feel like you should have added more American muscle to the to the list maybe we're getting to it maybe not this is a dope car though this is a dope car I'm passing because my car's faster that's that's good okay we're gonna we're gonna move to the next
[1:21:39] one here so the P1 is a pass for you totally get that it's just like one respectful pass it's one of those like staple like you know top of the dollar if you've got a million bucks you want to spend on the whip you can push it it's desirable for sure yep so I guess this one's going to be similar to that answer as well so this is a McLaren 720s so a step down more attainable only gonna cost you like 360 Grand oh only three you know but turboed very fast yeah this looks fun though bro I like uh McLarens have such a unique look to them yeah and uh this thing just looks like it just Glides right through the air so it really looks fun to ride and you know person like me I like seeing them big wheels bro those look like they got 22s I'm about that live so I'm gonna smash
[1:22:30] this one just off of the respective you know the Ingenuity on this this is fire all right well I appreciate that so next we're gonna go into um a little bit of a different segment here we're going to talk about some real life examples of kind of how Vehicles perform today and so what we're going to do here is we're going to kind of pull up a video I want to make sure this is muted but you and I can just kind of think about this so this is are you familiar with hoonigan at all yeah yeah so the hoosing guys yeah hoonigan guys go crazy with their cars right and so they have a segment called plaid versus that and so in this episode what we're going to see here is a plaid versus a 720s okay in a drag race straight up so we're gonna do is I'll turn this to you and let's kind of talk about this as
[1:23:17] this goes down so my boys are out here on a drag strip and we've got the Plaid I'm sorry this is an svj Aventador okay so calling it back to what we kind of talked about a little bit earlier are you familiar with the guys from daily driven Exotics have you ever seen their YouTube channel I don't think I'm familiar with them so DDE these guys are pretty popular because they uh have a YouTube Vlog where they just like race like not race but they basically Vlog their life and having supercars so these guys have like a garage of like svjs and a whole bunch of Ferraris and a whole bunch of different stuff right respect but this is the results when we get an svj against a plaid he goes straight up Plato probably catch them let's see what happens so they are off and they are ripping they're going a good distance yeah it looks like the svj got to jump on them as well yeah I think they're doing uh like a quarter mile here
[1:24:04] so the thing that amazes me is just how quickly like a plaid will start closing on people yeah it's closing rate is insane dude this is kind of like a record race yeah so you see the other guys ahead for a bit um The Plaid starts to close in on them and the other guy's like oh [ __ ] what do I do yeah there's nothing you can do with that plaid brother man those things are just so fast crazy they're both fast cars that's a good race though yeah that's awesome and so they keep going heads up and everything like that but I think it's so cool that we've got people out here that are just racing like the the gorilla in the room of the Aventador you know what I'm saying and then we've got like this new kid who comes to town and like tries to flex on people with a silent car you know what I mean that thing is wild so I've got another one here for us which is um we've got a 720s here against a plaid as well and this is something I thought was really
[1:24:51] interesting just just how this kind of like race goes down in general so we see here so we've got our 720s that's ripping all over the place so round one here we go thousand foot so what is a thousand foot race how far is that uh it's slightly shorter than a quarter mile okay that's just just so just a wee bit shorter than a quarter mile um we usually only raise Eighth Mile or quarter mile okay 1000 feet would be in between the two okay so it's it's a it's a good chunk to figure out if your car's got it or not yeah that's a reasonable amount yeah I was always wondering why these guys raised thousand foot yeah a thousand foot it's a good it's a good metric I guess to see and they are off and what do we got we got the 720s that
[1:25:38] doesn't seem like it gets off in the library oh wow I've got the rocket ship probably pulling in by what like six cars here he's got he's got some length on them for sure that's crazy pause if necessary so let's see I know that they do a roll race here as well which I thought was really good so here we go 1500 yeah I'm not crazy about Roll Racing but for for this this Dynamic it's cool it it adds information yeah on the see and this is a big part of like racing back in Michigan everything was real racing yeah see it's cool it's cool to document roll racing because it's interesting to see how the car obviously performs at movement but I'm a dig type of race dude I like both cars on the starting line okay go yep but Roll Racing is fire too it's it's fun to see them in real life yeah I feel like it's just like it's whoever's got
[1:26:25] the fastest car is going to win that roll race yeah for sure well and you got to be able to drive Roll Racing too that's that's an underrated aspect of Roll Racing you really you can't be a slouch behind the wheel racing because you'll get exposed not at all for sure I just think that uh it's just so cool to see like these different types of cars like race each other yeah for sure like watching just in general yeah um is how these cars kind of get down which is the best kind of battle dude is a Race So the one other thing that I wanted to show you here which is another video so are you familiar with coin's egg at all coin exec I think so Koenigsegg is another manufacturer I want to say they come out of Sweden have you seen these yeah so these things are just absolutely ridiculous and we've got a Busa here in this race as well so do you have any homies who race motorcycles I do that's
[1:27:13] dangerous places are not to be messed with no for sure but yeah that's one of the things uh about to probably not do two wheels is too too few that's fair but uh I have a lot of respect for dudes on two wheels they got the cajones for sure and there's some fast bikes bro it's hard to beat a fast motorcycle how do you beat a boat it's cool you gotta have a lot of power you gotta have a lot of people have a lot of power so it's cool to see this type of deal that just shows how fast these cars are bro yeah it's insane yeah and he's getting after her too you could tell he's no amateur on a motorcycle no not at all very pulling a wheelie at 140 yeah bro I'm cool on that I'm sure but uh yeah insane man yeah that's crazy it's just crazy to see how you know we've been
[1:27:59] able to over time kind of just think about how we get these big vehicles with four wheels to go as fast as possible you know I mean and two wheels as well right you know what I mean dude we've gone great Great Lengths to figure this type of stuff out yeah that's crazy so what is the future of the automotive landscape look like to you and this is something I kind of want to get your unique perspective because you're really ingrained in the muscle scene in general making cars go fast now we've got a huge emergence of electric vehicles but we also got like the I would say governmental pressure right that says all these combustion engines aren't going to be allowed to be sold in California as an example as of 2035.
[1:28:40] what is a world that we can't buy these type of whips in you know what I mean a world that I'm interested to see brother um it's funny you ask that it's a good question because that's one of the things that's kind of uh that's evolving in the racing world is like right now um fuel injection is a big deal it's becoming more and more of a big deal and I'm a carburetor guy okay so explain the difference for us uh carburetors essentially you know kind of what you know what's on the top of every muscle car vintage car it pours fuel down the engine you go fast uh EFI fuel injection is like controlled by the computer in the ignition and it's just a whole new can of worms as far as tuning yeah and getting the most performance out of your car and now um fuel injection is becoming more and more popular in drag
[1:29:28] racing and everything you know that I've grown up around has been carburetors yeah so I like to joke around and say if it doesn't have a carburetor on it I don't want to work on it yes because it's so much simpler and you know we have Decades of knowledge and resources that support carbureted and um you know stuff versus fuel injection but you know fuel injection is is what we drop the works what we drive to the the grocery store and ultimately they're extremely fast too and you can just do a lot more with them you know with the computers and the tuners and all this all these resources that we have now at our disposal it can get crazy so man I don't know the future is crazy like you said um you electric guys are you guys might be getting what you want man in it we just have to wait and see man yeah
[1:30:16] that's either way I'm excited you know what I'm saying because either way we're going to find ways to to be crazy and go fast yeah but it's just cool to see how things evolve you know what I'm saying like seeing the cars that we grew up to see are fast it's gonna be a lot different for our kids oh yeah man they're gonna be like what that 67 Camaro that's jumped that little hog like they're not even gonna respect it dude so but unless they're taught you know you know how where we started and where we came from but that'll that's an interesting question I don't know that I have an answer of what I think it's going to look like yeah but uh I'm bringing my carburetor with me as you're holding on to it as long as I can as you should as you should I mean like and actually I think that there's like a something of like a pendulum right so it's like we go super hard American Muscle carbureted engines fuel injection now we swing back to Electric yeah and then it can't let them out forever you know what I mean so we got to swing back
[1:31:02] the opposite way right and I think that that place in history is going to be a really awesome time to be in because yeah everybody's gonna have electric vehicles sooner or later but it's like the experience of pulling up to a light and hearing like a camed C7 vet next to you or something like that it's just like insane yeah yeah it's wild man yeah that's exciting dude it's exciting to see where we're gonna go with these things yeah man hopefully I'm able to evolve with it you know what I'm saying absolutely that's just the name of the game of everything you know so yeah it's cool yeah bro well I just want to say thanks for coming on the podcast man it was really cool to like kind of hear more about your story hear about your success I know that you say you're introverted and you don't like with the shine but that's why we're here today is to put shine on this kid you know what I mean for all the stuff that you're doing but no thank you bro thanks for having me yeah love what you're doing with the platform and I love you as a friend too
[1:31:49] so man it was cool it was cool talking about it because you know you understand yeah it was fun man absolutely bro well thanks so much for coming on the show Doug I really appreciate you anytime man yeah thanks Doug
